The Final Move. A 3000 square foot mural over multiwalls at different levels at BMC Software, Houston. This represents the famous chess match between Gary Kasparov, the world champion, against Deep Blue, the IBM computer, with Deep Blue the winner. The final board position of the match is depicted on a western U.S. wooded mesa, with chess pieces as follows: king, elephant, the king of the jungle; queen, panther, sleek and fast; bishop, candle, a guiding light; knight, horse; castle, tree, castles of the forest; pawn, column. The mural is not flat, and has raised surfaces for some animals. The mural is symbolic for a high tech corporation, computer was victorious over man. This was a huge job, that took over 7 months to complete. It was conceived by J.Par, and painted with the help of one other artist. The mural is shown via 2 images only: a photomontage of the whole work; and a pose of the artist on scaffolding with the white king and pawns as background.
Cafe at BMC Software, Houston: A mural over 2 floors that depicts a circus in a world of animated computers. The cafe is called "Juans and Ze Rose" which is a word play on "ones and zeroes" .. the world of a software company.
